Elephant Bay Resort was previously known as Gu Bay Resort (Gu’s Bay). Gu is a traditional Thai word used by local people. It can have many meanings such as me, my or mine. Bay referred to Bailan Bay, where Gu Bay Resort was located. Hence Gu Bay translates into My Bay.

As constant development is needed, the change of ownership in December 2014 will lead to alterations and improvements made to the resort. Essentially everything guests love about the resort will stay the same, and everything that didn’t work we are going to fix. This will be done while maintaining the existing atmosphere and ambiance. We see these changes as a fresh start and feel that a name change is a natural expression of this new direction.

Elephant Bay Resort is connected to the community of the small town of Bailan Bay (Bai Lan Bay). The town is part of the Koh Chang Marine Park, Mu Koh Chang, and is situated on the south-west of the island.

A magnificent sunset will await you almost every evening; it has our guests gather around and share the moment as the perfect start to their night. The resort is conveniently located: Bailan Bay main street shops are a 0.1 km or a 2 minute walk away. Bang Bao Fisherman Village and Pier are 3 km south and Lonely Beach is 2 km north. Additionally, the closest sandy beach is only a 10 minute walk from the resort.

The resort has a big garden with lots of room to play sports such as volleyball and badminton, hang-out in one of the several hammocks or just enjoy the sun by the pool. It is both a place to be by yourself and to meet people. Moreover, unlike almost all resorts on Koh Chang, Elephant Bay Resort has a wall on both sides, which along with only one entrance and exit makes your stay as safe and private as possible.

The restaurant, where you can order food from 08.00 AM – 13.30 PM and 16.30 PM – 20.30 PM, serves both Thai and Western food. The bar opens at 08.00 AM and as there is no set closing time, closes when the last guest or the bartender calls it a night.

While the resort offers a relaxed and calm atmosphere, a real party is never far away. Take a songtaew taxi to Lonely Beach. Catch one at the street or have one called for you and they can drop you off at the right party within minutes from leaving the resort.

The resort has 26 private rooms of which 13 have air conditioning. Just like the common areas, our rooms are well known for their original and quirky décor. Each rooms’ wall designs were created by different local artist which means that no two rooms are the same. All of Elephant Bay Resort’s rooms were recently refurbished which includes new mattresses, shelving units, clothes racks, and linen. Additionally, most rooms have been renovated and in some cases the units have been demolished and rebuilt.

The latest renovation to our beautiful resort added the Ocean View Deluxe room. If you love the atmosphere of Elephant Bay Resort, but are looking for more luxury when it comes to your accommodation, look no further! Our Deluxe room has an added entree, separate bedroom and sizable, private en-suite bathroom. The enlarged terrace with deck chairs makes the setting complete. These rooms are very well suited for long stay guests as the extra space inside make it the perfect hang-out on rainy days. Also for families this is an excellent choice as an extra mattress can easily be placed in the front room.

| The Restaurant |

When we first launched this resort we never intended to put a lot of time and energy on the culinary aspect of the business, but our love for food has no bounds. All of our ingredients are locally sourced and extremely fresh. Instant coffee is not to be found here!

| The restaurant itself is an open space that has many tables and hang-out areas where one can feast on breakfast, lunch or dinner. |

We serve many traditional Thai dishes like khao pad (fried rice), pad thai (fried noodles Thai style), and gaeng kiew wan (green curry soup). Additionally, we also serve Western food like hamburgers with french fries, fried chicken baguettes, and banana pancakes.

Please note that in order to give our staff a well-deserved break, food orders are taken from 08.00 AM – 13.30 PM and 16.30 PM – 20.30 PM. If the kitchen is closed we are happy to suggest alternate restaurants. Some of us are foodies and have been making a list of the best places to eat on the island!

| The Lounge |

The Lounge, which is part of the restaurant, has funky and comfortable seating which is perfect for playing board games, chatting, reading, and even napping. It is a fantastic place to spend a rainy day or to meet people. If guests are in the mood for specific music they can use our Spotify account or they can plugin their own device into our sound system. Some of the staff at Elephant Bay Resort love board games, and as such we carry classics such as monopoly and Backgammon; as well as niche games such as Hanabi and Keezen. The lounge is also equipped with the perfect seating for reading. It enables readers to lie down whilst propping up their head and shoulders. Feel free to borrow a book from our library and read comfortably for hours on end.

Whether you are a beer fan, wine devotee, cocktail lover or just can’t get enough of a fresh, home-made fruit smoothie, you are welcome to join us at EBR bar. We’ve noticed that backpackers like Thai buckets, but be warned, we make ours stronger than most.

With a pool table, foosball table, board games and a mini library for book swap, there are many activities to enjoy while hanging out in the bar area. For those musically gifted, we have a guitar available to brighten up the place with live music.

EBR bar opens at 08.00 AM and as there is no set closing time, we call it a night when either the last guest or the bartender decides so. Calling it a night at the bar does not mean you have to go to bed. Why not hop over to Lonely Beach and continue the night. Himmel and TingTong can both be found in Soi 1 and both bars are always up for a party.
