| The Makathanee Resort on KohMak |
| Koh Mak island and it's satellite islands in the south eastern part of Thailand currently hold as much as 24 resorts, hotels, bungalow parks and other types of accommodations where you can spend the night in different levels of comfort and luxury. However, none of these resorts, hotels or bungalow parks on or near ko mak will be able to claim that they can beat the location of the Makathanee resort with it's impressive beach that gently slopes into the clean and quiet sea with crystal clear water; the hundreds of coconut trees all along the beach, it's beautiful landscaped gardens with a perfect carpet of grass, a nature friendly private swimming pool with bubble seat, truly impressive panorama view beach bungalows, brand new hotel rooms, Family Suites and, for the romantically involved: the Honeymoon suites. The Makathanee resort is also one of only two hotel resorts on Koh Maak to have it's own concrete speedboat pier and fleet of speedboats which run between the Krom Luang Laem Ngop pier and Koh Mak, Koh wai and the other surrounding islands all year round. |

| Koh Maak island is a beautiful and mostly quiet family island, which is quite a bit more civilized than most of it's neighbors. On Ko Mak electricity is available 24 hours per day, whereas many of the resorts and hotels on Koh Wai, Koh Kradat, Koh Kam and many even Koh Kood run their own generators only during the hours of the night, which makes basic comforts like a refrigerator nearly impossible to have. In the Makathanee Koh Mak all of the rooms, bungalows and suites have air conditioning, a refrigerator / mini bar, a TV, hot water shower, personal safe and coffee and tea making facilities. There is an internet cafe in the reception area and motorcycles, golf carts or even cars can be rented from the service desk in the same room. You can also use the chauffeur driven Makathanee Minibus to be dropped off and / or picked up from anywhere on Ko Maak. For less local transfers (to other islands), trips to Cambodia, snorkeling or diving trips and courses, or other things to see and do, please visit the information center near the road entrance of the beach resort. Turn right onto the small main road to find a series of small restaurants and pubs that provide nearly all of the nightlife that you will find on this peaceful island. The best fresh seafood Beach BBQ, however, stands right next to our famous restaurant, on our own beach. Be sure to arrive early for the best pickings. |

| Because the owners of this Koh Mak resort and their families have been living on this beautiful island for literally centuries, they have a very strong bond with Mak island and it's nature which is still mostly in tact. Knowing this, we hope that you won't mind if we ask you to limit the use of the shower heater and air conditioner as much as possible, so that both future visitors as well as the next generation of Koh Makians will be able to enjoy Koh Mak island, it endless pristine beaches and it's crystal clear sea water with abounded sea life, as much as we trust you will. |

Standard City View Rooms |

These standard "City View" rooms where originally built and intended for service staff like maids, nannies and / or drivers, that tend to travel to Ko Mak with larger Thai famalies or foreign expats. Since then, however, they have become increasingly populair with the more budget aware travelers to Koh Mak island. The lower costs that come with these standard rooms are actually hardly noticable when spending the night in these rooms. Sure, these modest hotelrooms are quite a bit smaller than most of our other types of accommodations and, compared to all the other new rooms in the main building behind the pool, these have the most basic bathrooms and toilets, but when compared to many other resorts on the island, we should actually call these rooms Premium Garden View rooms or something similar, rather than just standard rooms. |

Staying in one of these coze corner rooms does not limit the guest's access to any of the Makathanee Resort's services and amenities. They enjoy full access to the eco-friendly swimming pool and are welcome to lounge in the (deck)chairs at the beach. Breakfast is included in the room rate (as are all taxes and service charge). |

Nearly all City View standard Rooms have a view of the (relatively) lively street that runs behind the makathanee resort. Relatively, as the only times when there is some real activity to speak of is just before and after the arrival of one of our Leelawadee Speeboats at the our Main pier in front of the resort. The rest of the day it can take as long as 15 - 30 minutes to see another tourist passing by on a bicycle or motorcycle. It's not until later in the afternoon that this little street comes to live when the many tiny restaurants, little bars and smoothy / coffeshops lure visitors on Ko Mak in their direction. There are no pubs or clubs, so with no loud music to be feared, a good night's rest is ensured. |

The Standard City View rooms come with Air Conditioning, a private bathroom with shower and toilet and a very comfortable bed. A building wide fire & smoke detector system ensures that you will be made aware of any potential hazards at all times. TV is not present in the room. Beach Bungalows |

The Panorama Beach Bungalows are probably the most popular of all types of accomoodations that we have on offer in the Makathanee Resort on Koh Mak, due to their A1 location. These 8 lovely bungalows are all facing the sea and stand directly on the beautiful Ao Khao Beach on Koh Mak. These comfortable, cozy panorama bungalows offer a nearly 180 degrees view of the beach and sea, even from the extra comfortable beds. Beach Bungalows number 7 and 8 are joined by a double sized terrace and interconnecting doors, especially great for families with older children or two couples that travel together and like to spend their evening with a beer or nice cocktail and a friendly game or good converstation, while being only a few steps removed from the Makathanee restaurant and the cocktail bar. |

Deluxe Extra Comfort Sea View Rooms |

The Deluxe Rooms were just completed late 2009 and no costs were spared in doing so. Whereas the more simple Pool / Sea View rooms in the buildings on the far ends of the swimming pool where considered as a bit too basic by some, at least for a Beach Resort on Koh Mak island, these new Deluxe Rooms have so far only received the best grades in nearly everyone's travel journal. The Makathanee Deluxe rooms all have spacious modern bahtrooms with a sexy window view of the bedroom and the sea behind it. Of course, vitrage on the outside windows and blinds on the bathroom windows have been installed for our more shy guests. We have chosen the most comfortable, yet durable matresses we could find and placed those on a wooden eleveated floor, facing the large wide screen TV's and a properly sized make up desk with huge mirror. A dimmer on the bed's headboard ensures that the room will always be exactly as romantic as you would like it to be. The minibar / fridge is within easy reach of the bed, just around the corner from the spacious closet / magic bathroom door. |

The large floor lamp next to the TV with several international TV channels, makes our very very very comfortable Sea View sofa the most cozy place for some late afternoon / early evening reading. Early mornings suntan sessions and after lunch naps are usually taken on the two pool / beach beds on the beautiful Sea View terrace. Note that the screen that seperates you from your neighbors can be folded back, in case you travel with close friends or perhaps older children or other relatives, with whom you do not want to share a King Sized family Suite or in case that your neighbors turn out to be equally fun and relaxed as you are. |

The Makathanee Honeymoon rooms all have large King Sized Beds, as well as a king sized love seat and a king sized TV. The large makeup table ensure that you will look great in all of your honeymoon pictures, both during the day as well as at night. |

Our special sunbeds will ensure that you come back with an excellent tan, even if you don't get too spend too much time away from the room here on Koh Mak. We highly recommend watching the sunset from the pier at least one night, but rest assured that you can also enjoy a perfect sunset right from the comfort of your jacuzzi, sun beds, love seat or even from the privacy of your bed in your honeymoon suite on Koh Mak island. |
